The Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the pan-Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Wednesday explained what it claims is an emerging new Nigeria looming in the horizon, stressing that God is at work to rescue Nigeria.

Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene, the National Vice President of Ohaneze, said that the fresh order pushing primordial sentiments of ethnicity was fast receding to the background made manifest in the Yoruba people leading the campaigns of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) candidate.

“God is propelling this movement and not by any human being. I’ve not experienced it in Nigeria before. We are not working for Peter Obi but for ourselves and the future of this great country,” he stated.

Okeke-Ogene predicted that over 80 per cent of Nigerians would vote for Obi in the 2023 presidential election, adding that the former Governor of Anambra State was already coasting home to victory by the wide endorsement from groups like Afenifere, Middlebelt Leaders Forum and many other ethnic and social-cultural organisations.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Anambra State Obi/Datti presidential campaign committee which took place Wednesday in Awka, Okeke-Ogene, the South-East Zonal coordinator of the body, said, “we don’t want to make our support to Peter Obi an Igbo affair and we are not supporting him because he is an Igbo man.

“Ohaneze is fully in support of Peter Obi/Ahmed Datti joint ticket. We are fully in support of it in and out.

“The Yorubas are supporting Obi/ Datti ticket, they are even leading in support of the ticket for national interest.

“They said it is a payback time for Ndigbo for supporting Abiola and Obasanjo.

“We gave them 90 percent votes and they are appreciative. Why won’t the Igbo support the movement?” he said.

Describing Obidient Movement as divine intervention to rescue Nigeria from collapse, he maintained that Nigerians had decided to take back their country and there was no going back.

He said: “God is propelling this movement and not by any human being.

“I’ve not experienced it in Nigeria before. We are not working for Peter Obi but for ourselves and the future of this great country.

“Peter Obi is not looking for anything, with two grownup children; he is not looking for means to train them but how to restructure Nigeria for the good of all.

“I urge the Campaign Committee members to work harder for the realization of this wonderful dream,” he added.

Chairman, Ogochukwu Eneh, LP state chairman in Anambra, congratulated the members and charged them to work hard to guarantee victory for the party, while State Coordinator/Director General Obi- Datti presidential campaign committee, Joe Martin Uzodike disclosed that over 800 persons constituted members of the committee.

He said all party candidates were automatic members of the committee, urging them to ensure no stone was left unturned towards rescuing Nigeria from further decay.

The Anambra State Secretary of the Compaign Committee, Barr. Okoli Akrika, commended the party for finding them worthy to lead the campaign and promised to deliver.
