The police have finally opened up on the arrest of Aminu Muhammad, the 500l student of the Federal University, Dutse who was allegedly arrested over a tweet he made concerning the First Lady, Aisha Buhari.

Aminu had reportedly made a tweet that supposedly mocked Aisha Buhari, alleging she and her family members were feeding fat on public funds.

The tweet which was composed in Hausa and accompanied by a photo of the first lady, read in English, “Mama has eaten poor people’s money and is now full.”

Aminu Muhammed was according to reports arrested by the Department of State Service (DSS) leading to strong criticism across the country  this has generated a lot of backlash from Nigerians.

Leading activist, Aisha Yesufu in her reaction went to twitter to condemn the arrest of the student berating the government for hushing the voice of an aggrieved citizen and student.

She wrote “Who is Aisha Buhari that an aggrieved citizen cannot talk about? Those of you talking about her so-called powers need to ask yourselves whether you are citizens or slaves. Duniya budurwar wawa!”

Parents of the detained Aminu Muhammad have pleaded with Aisha Buhari following their claim that the student was brought to the Presidential Villa where he claimed he was beaten.

However, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Lawan Shiisu he said he was not aware.

“We didn’t make the arrest. An arrest cannot be made in my area without me being informed,” the police spokesman said concerning Aminu Muhammad, the student allegedly in trouble over the tweet made against First Lady, Aisha Buhari.
