Saudi Arabia on Tuesday won a famous victory over one time champion Argentina in their opening match in the ongoing World Cup fiesta by 2-1.

Reports showed that Argentina started the match on an upbeat note with a penalty in the 10 minutes taken by their captain, Lionel Messi. Two other goals in the first half were ruled off-side.

Saudi Arabia came back in the second half re-energised and put in two goals in the 48th and 53rd minutes through Al Shehri and Al Dawsari respectively.

Argentina were largely a shadow of themselves in the second half.
GWG.NG reports that the defeat is the first to be suffered by the super power football power in about 30 games.
