*As stakeholders call for the probe of Brig-Gen. Fadah

Following the sudden removal of Brig-Gen. Muhammad Kaku Fadah as the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) by President Muhammadu Buhari, Mrs. Christy Uba, Director, Information and Communications Technology, the most senior Director in the Scheme, has taken over the leadership of the Corps in the capacity of Overseer, pending the appointment of a substantive Director General by the President.

A one paragraph statement by Eddy Megwa, Director, Press and Public Relations at NYSC made the disclosure.

Fadah was removed from office last week Thursday, following reports of his incompetence and low capacity.

Gen. Fadah was said to have polarised the Scheme on assumption of office about six months ago, and rather than build on the giant strides of his predecessor, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu, he turned the NYSC upside down, and almost ruined the Scheme.

There have been allegations of contact splitting, incompetence of the highest order and even the suspicion that he lacked the requisite academic credentials to head and institution like the NYSC.

He was also involved in age issues, as well as allegations that he failed to do the mandatory NYSC programme before he enlisted into the Nigerian Army, a situation which automatically disqualifies him to head the NYSC and threatens his continued stay in the Nigerian Army.

But, even after President Buhari removed him from office, Fadah was sited in office last Friday, in what was described as “shameless act of an ignoble leader”.

Also, he was seen last Monday at the Kogi State NYSC Orientation Camp, “officially” performing duties as Director-General even after he knew he had been removed from office, in violation of both Military tradition and Public Service rules.

A week before Fadah’s removal from office, there was fire outbreak on the third floor of the National Headquarters of the NYSC, where the Procurement Department and ICT Departments are domiciled, fuelling suspicions that the fire may have been an insiders’ job to cover up contract scams alleged to be on-going at the NYSC recently.

It is not clear if Fadah had been assigned to any duty post in the Army Education Corps, but there are strident calls for a thorough probe of his certificates and claims he made regarding his age, aside his activities in the NYSC.
