Less than six months after assuming office as the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate removal of Brig-Gen. Muhammad Kukah Fadah, from office.
Although reasons have not been provided (at press time) by the presidency for the sacking of Gen. Fadah, credible sources in the Presidential Villa stated that the removal of the NYSC boss is not unconnected with the fact that Fadah has exhibited “glaring incompetence” in the six months he has piloted the affairs of NYSC.
Other sources stated that the DG has been indicted by the Governing Board of the Scheme on various infractions, including contract spliting, creating crises withing the management team of the NYSC, insubordination to the directives of the Board, among other indictments.
It was even learnt that the fire outbreak on the third floor of the National Headquarters of the NYSC penultimate week, was an in-house arson aimed at covering up procurement issues at the Scheme.
Fada was said to have turned the NYSC into a kindred institution, where several of his kinsmen were given contracts at randomn.
It was further learnt that due to Fada’s incompetence, almost all the innovations and improvements by his immediate predecessor, Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Shuaibu, were being systematically destroyed or grounded.
Fada’s decision to run a one-man show, totally denigrating the top management staff of the NYSC and ignoring all their input into the management of the NYSC, created high level discontent among the Directorate staff who were said to have decided to simply left him to do as he pleases, but lamenting that his actions were gradually destroying the ethoes and dignity of the NYSC.
Meanwhile, it was gathered that the ousted NYSC Director General has been asked to hand-over to the most senior civil servant in the organisation, who is to act as DG in the interim.
