*Residents bemoan lethargy by security agencies on Intels provided

Terrorists in their large numbers Thursday evening attacked a military checkpoint located around Zuma Rock area of Madalla in Niger state, shooting sporadically and forcing traffic to a halt on the Abuja-Kaduan federal highway.

Up until now, it could not be ascertained if they were casualties as a result of the attack because security agencies would not want to speak on the matter and nearby residents are unable to confirm, having ran for dear lives and never returned home till this morning  when any casualty, if at all must have even cleared.

However, Nigeria soldiers deployed from Zuma Barracks immediately faced the attackers and subsequently dispersed them.

Policemen according to eyewitness also arrived some minutes after the soldiers had cleared the highway and that axis of any danger.

The latest attack is happening few days after a detachment of the Brigade of Guards faced similar circumstance around Bwari general area, within the boundsries of the Federal Capital Territory with Kaduna and Niger States.

However, it is surprising that nothing seems to be done regarding Intel from members of the public that these terrorists mainly operate on motorcycles and a large number of their suspected members pretend to be commercial motorcycle operators, using unregistered motorcycles and Keke to pretend to ply the trade in the FCT city center, whereas they are on routine surveillance.

These criminals also have taken residences in shanties in open spaces around markets, shopping malls and Mosques, especially the Abuja Central Mosque and under the bridges within the environs.

Abuja residents wonder why security agencies chose to block their ears to information given them about movement of suspicious persons around the neighbourhood.
