..As PDP Hails Appeal Court Judgment on Osun

The stage in set for transition programme to commence as Osun State governor-elect, Sen. Ademola Adeleke and deputy governor-elect, Prince Kola Adewusi on Wednesday received their Certificate of Return from the INEC National Commissioner, Supervising Osun, Ogun and Oyo states, Prof. Kunle Ajayi.

This event took place few hours after an Appeal Court judgement rested all contestations regarding the validity of the Candidacy of the Osun State Governor-Elect.

Adeleke was declared the winner of the Saturday, July 16 poll where scored 403, 371 votes to defeat the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 375, 027 votes.

In his acceptance speech after receiving the certificate at a brief ceremony held at Osun INEC head office in Osogbo, Adeleke dedicated his victory at the poll to the memory of his late elder brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke and the people of Osun state.

Reacting to the Appeal Court Judgement, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in a statement on Wednesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba described the verdict as further validation of the Will and aspiration of the people of Osun State which they overwhelmingly expressed on July 16.

“The judgment is a firm confirmation that the Osun State governorship primary was transparently conducted by the Sen. Dr. Iyorchia Ayu-led National Working Committee (NWC) in strict compliance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution and Electoral Guidelines as provided by the Electoral Act and the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).

“Our Party commends the Judiciary for its courage adding that the judgment has further restored the confidence of Nigerians on our judicial system and the processes of the PDP”.

The PDP again congratulated the people of Osun State and charged all Party stakeholders in the State to remain united behind Sen. Ademola Adeleke in his determination to institute a transparent, people-oriented and development-based government that will rebuild and revamp Osun State from the misrule of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
