The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, has reiterated his position that each of the 17 presidential aspirants on the party’s platform is better than incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.

Ayu restated this today in Abuja while welcoming the Rivers state Governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike, to the PDP national secretariat, according to Simon Imobo-Tswam, Special Assistant to the National Chairman on Communication and Strategy.

Wike, one of the presidential aspirants under the PDP banner, was at the national secretariat to return his nomination forms and intimate the party hierarchy of his presidential ambition.

According to him in the statement, Ayu praised Gov. Wike’s contributions to the party and hailed the governor’s politics of issues, urging all aspirants on the party’s platform to stay focused on issues.

He expressed the optimism that the PDP will sweep next year’s presidential election, but called on party faithful to close ranks and work towards the common goal.
His words: “I have no doubt that we will win next year’s presidential election. But we must close ranks, keep our eyes on the big picture and work in unity. We must never lose sight of our common goal.”

Earlier, Wike had said if the major opposition party wants a candidate that will displace the ruling APC from power in  year’s general election, it should hand him the ticket.

While ushering Gov. Wike before the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), Abia State Governor, Ikpeazu, said the 2023 general election was about Nigeria’s corporate existence.
He said Nigerians “are tired of empty promises, and want example, pedigree and a clear evidence of performance which Nyesom Wike exemplifies.”
