There was tension around Kugbo Mechanic Village on the Abuja -Keffi Expressway, as a yet-to-be-identified soldier allegedly stabbed an electrician to death in the area.
The incident occurrd following an argument that ensued between the duo which resulted to a scuffle with the soldier, and later led to the stabbing of the electrician simply identified as ‘Yellow’.
The development caused protests by the deceased colleagues in the market leading to the setting ablaze of the soldier’s vehicle.
A trader in the area who did not want his name mentioned, said the situation triggered fears, making shop owners around the area to close their shops and run for safety.
“The soldier came with a car for the electrician to effect some repairs on it. After few hours they started an argument of which the later soldier brought out a jack-knife and stabbed the man to death, and subsequently ran away.
“The soldier’s car was subsequently set ablaze by colleagues of the deceased. But the situation is calm now because few policemen came into the mechanic village to restore order.”
Another spare parts dealer, who also refused to disclose his identity, said, “the soldier came with the car first to me, but I told him that I am busy, and that he should give my second his car to repairs, they ended up with heated argument which led to the death of the electrician”.
As at press time, there there has not been any reaction from either the military or the police.
