The Ebonyi State Police Command on Friday, arrested 15 persons alleged to have been involved in enforcing the week-long sit-at-home imposed by the self-exiled member of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) across the five South-East states.
The Police also recovered various weapons and charms, including a live eagle, Army camouflage, two vehicle plate numbers, and other incriminating items from the criminal enforcers.
According to the police, among those arrested were Okwudili Otozi, and Nnenna Ali, a nursing mother.
The Police stated that the duo were herbalists for the alleged criminal gang and they prepare charms for them before embarking on operation.
While Parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters in Abakaliki, just hours before bowing out of service, the Commissioner of Police, CP. Faleye Olaleye, said the arrested persons were responsible for the attacks, sporadic shootings witnessed in different parts of the State last Tuesday, as well as the recent attack on a Police team in the state.
The 15 suspects are currently in police custody waiting for arraignment in court.
