John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, has stated that Nigerians are looking for a new kind of government away from the usual All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peopes Democratic Party (PDP), that we’ve lived with over the years.

Speaking in an interview, Onaiyekan stated that although Peter Obi is not the only new force in the game, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party seems to be the one who’s well-known as at now.

He also stated that between now and February, when the general elections are scheduled to start, he expects the new forces to work together to give Nigerians a chance of electing a new kind of government.

The Cardinal said: “There are many Nigerians who say we need a completely new approach, and we are seeing that in somebody else.

“Apparently, Peter Obi is not the only new force, but he seems to be the most well known now.

“One would have expected that if those new forces have some serious things in common as regards how best to rescue the nation, maybe between now and February, they would have been able to put their acts together and put their forces together to give Nigeria a chance of a new kind of government.”

Nigerians have been expressing a huge disappointment over the ruling styles of the APC and past PDP, adding that the two political parties only succeeded in dragging Nigeria backward rather than moving the nation forward.

They also lamented the growing corruption, poor management of infrastructure, increasing poverty, insecurity all over the places, nepotism and outright wickedness among the political leaders, lamenting that they have been ruled over the years by propagandists, rather than patriotic individuals.
