…Ratify National campaign council list

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party, the PDP is set to hold its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting next week.

The NEC is also expected to ratify the list of members on the National Presidential Campaign Council as campaign is set to kick-off on the 28th of September for National elections.

The party had on several occasion postponed its NEC meeting due to the disagreement among stakeholders and agitation that the party’s national chairman should vacate his position for a southerner following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar as the Party’s Presidential candidate.

In a Press conference on Thursday at the Party’s headquarters in Abuja, National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Hon. Debo Ologunagba said that the party is united and ready to take over the leadership of the country despite differences among party members.

He said, “Leaders and members and stakeholders of this party are united on a singular mission.  I can authoritatively say that the party is solid. The party is moving ahead with it’s programs. The party is moving forward with the mission to rescue or rebuild Nigeria and this part is crucial. So the need to bring every party, every member, every stakeholder on board, since we have all agreed on a mission and because we are focused”.

He said that irrespective of the skewed nature of the leadership of the party, stakeholders are in agreement on the need to rescue the country from the hands of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). He said that the sufferings in the country does not distinguish between religion and tribe.

Recall that the opposition party has been unable to constitute a National Campaign Council due to the lingering crises between its Presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar and governor Wike of Rivers State.

It was learnt that the party had taken its time to avoid embarrassment from members loyal to the governor of Rivers State who might turn down membership of the council if they do not have the node from Wike.
