Barr. Silas Onu, on Monday took over as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State.
This followed the sack of the former state Chairman, Tochukwu Okorie by an Abuja High Court, sitting in Abuja.
Onu had contested the chairmanship position of the party and lost to Okorie, whom he letter dragged to court on the ground that Okorie’s nomination form was submitted out of time.
The court in April ruled in favor of Onu, though Okorie, approached the Court of Appeal, asking it to set aside the High Court’s judgment that declared Silas Onu as Chairman of PDP in Ebonyi.
However, yesterday the PDP at the national recognized Onu as the authentic chairman of the Party.
Onu while addressing newsmen at the party Secretariat located along Abakaliki -Enugu highway, said he has already resumed office.Stating: “my agenda is to make sure that PDP presents a fair, credible platform for all aspirants to compete and represent the party.
“It will be an exercise in futility if we gather to deceive ourselves and we do not do an election.
“Our job is to present the best candidate that the delegates want and to sell that candidate and to win the election.
“We are not interested in where you come from or whether you are handsome or not, what we need is winning ability”.
He urged the party members to remain faithful and resilient, adding that PDP remains a leading party in the state.
