A retired professor of philosophy at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Uzodinma Nwala, has revealed what could stop the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, from winning the 2023 presidential election. Nwala who was Obi’s lecturer and mentor at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, explained that the LP flag bearer could lose his chances only if the 2023 election is rigged. The erstwhile lecturer shared his opinion on the political scene in the country during an interview with The Whistler. Prpf. Nwala said, “Peter Obi can only lose this election if it is rigged, rigged in a very dirty manner. I can tell you Peter Obi will win this election. "If he wins, he may only be stopped from serving the Nigerian people if there’s a coup. These are alternatives which the criminals in power may resort to.” When asked why he was confident that Obi would clinch the presidency, he opined that the youths are awoken and are ready to do what it takes to make sure that LP flag bearer wins the election. “It seems to me that the youth of this country are also ready to do what their counterparts did in other places to stand toe to toe to stop anybody who wants to take us back to Egypt”, he said. Questioned if the support of the youths alone could guarantee the victory of the former Governor, Prof. Nwala replied “It’s not only the youths that are supporting Peter Obi, the youth are at the forefront. Many elders, writers, scholars and veterans are supporting him but they are not talking yet. They’re also not on the streets to show their support yet.”
