The baby girl who has become the sensation of the Peter Obi campaign courtesy of her enthusiastic exhibition during Saturday’s mass rallies of the Obidient Movement in Lagos, is now the “poster child” of the campaign.
The Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, on Sunday, commended the little girl identified as Chioma Success, who went viral for her vibrant display during the mega rally in Lagos on October 1.
Obi made his feelings known in a tweet on Sunday, saing: “The fight to take Nigeria back is for the sake of this little girl, Chioma, and for the sake of every Nigerian child – Amina, Yinka, Akpan, Abdul, Asake- including the unborn children.
“Chioma is now the poster child of this seminal campaign and process of national rebirth.
“I salute her passion and innocent gravitas. –PO”
The little girl, identified as Chioma Success, energized the Lagos rally and became the cynosure of all eyes.
She was first seen marching with adults in a video that has now gone viral, before an unidentified man lifted her up and she was waving enthusiastically the Labour Party flag with the crowd, who were enthralled by her level of excitement and responded accordingly.
In another video, the mother of the girl who identified herself as Queen, said she is a single mother who does not know where her daughter’s father was.
The rallies which held simultaneously in different parts of the country including Lagos, Benin City, Warri, Kaduna, Gombe, Bauchi, Uyo and London, were intended to drum support for Obi and his running mate Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed by their supporters known as Obidients.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have been reacting to the viral video.
Musician and actress, Onyeka Onwenu, said Chioma Success’ enthusiasm inspires hope.
Ms. Onwenu said, “In only a few fleeting moments, she captured the essence of what Peter Obi himself symbolizes – Hope and the joy of being alive. The spirit of this baby girl was vibrant and so positive – triumphant even. It was a pure delight to watch.
“She sparks the same Spirit in the viewer! It is infectious.”
Meanwhile, a Good Samaritan, Okey Agu, has offered to give the baby girl scholarship up to university.
Mr. Agu in a Facebook post said there was something inspiring in the little girl.
