Some top political and business leaders, including the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in last year’s general election, Mr. Peter Obi, President of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, former Group Managing Director (GMD) of Access Bank, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede and Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, have paid a condolence visit on the parents of the late Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Group, Dr Herbert Wigwe, who died in a helicopter crash in California, United States of America (USA).
Some others in the delegation include investment banker, economist and founder of Stanbic IBTC Bank Plc, Mr. Atedo Peterside, political economist, Prof. Pat Utomi and former Governor and ex Minister, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo.
Wigwe died with his wife, Chizoba, and son, Chizi, alongside Otunba Abimbola Ogunbanjo, former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) in the crash that occured on Friday, February 9, 2024.
Torrents of condolences have been pouring in for the family, friends, colleagues and Access Holdings Plc, in recognition of the contributions of Dr. Wigwe to the Nigerian and African economy generally and to the banking sector in particular, following the tragedy.
