2023: Keyamo exposes APC’s plot to assassinate Obi – Labour Party alerts IGP
By Myke Uzendu, Abuja
The Labour Party (LP) has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) , Alkali Baba Usman and other security agencies to arrest and investigate the spokes person of Tinubu Presidential Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo and the All Progressives Congress (APC) over plots to assassinate its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Arabambi Abayomi in a statement on Tuesday described the comment by Keyamu, linking Obi to attempts to fake his own assassination as “the most bizarre and unprecedented desperation of APC led administration” and asked Nigerians to hold Keyamo and APC responsible if the assassination plot pulls through.
The party stated that the fabricated and very misleading press statement from the Presidential Campaign Spokesperson of Tinubu Campaign Organisation, Barr. Festus Keyamo claiming that that Peter Obi plans to “stage-manage” an “assassination attempt” on himself is a self-confession on the plots of APC to assassinate the LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.
“Labour Party considered this devilish act by the APC presidential spoke man as not only deceitful but a subtle way to gain unmerited sympathy in their bogus attempt at employing crude primitive tactics clandestinely in order to win the 2023 presidential election through fraudulent means” the party said.
Abayomi went further to state that Keyamo’s provocative and highly disparaging insinuation against its Presidential candidate would have been ignored with its puerile contents but added that it is expedient to set the record straight for the benefits of the public and party members
“Festus Keyamo in a fabricated and very misleading press statement claimed he was responding to a non-existent false rumour that Peter Obi plans to “stage-manage” an “assassination attempt” on himself is alarming and very frightening and it leaves no room to doubt the implications of the claim as it is like a self-confession by the APC in its plan to assassinate the LP Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi.
“No one is confused by the APC through Festus Keyamo’s open pre-crime alibi. No one is fooled enough to buy into the very sadistic attempt to create a confused narrative ahead of committing felony.
“LP wants the public to be fully informed that the APC has indirectly warned all Nigerians that a plan to assassinate Peter Obi by the APC is on the way”.
Labour Party reminded Keyamo that Chapter IV of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on fundamental Rights section 33(1) states: “Every person has a right to life, and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life, save in execution of the sentence of a court in respect of a criminal offence of which he has been found guilty in Nigeria.”
Labour Party further reminded the spokesperson of Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu Presidential Campaign organization that the right to take life of another person is not vested in any individual or groups except as prescribed in Section 33(2) (a)(b)(c)c
The party therefore called on the Inspector General of Police to immediately and urgently commence a comprehensive investigation into Keyamo’s unlawful and treasonable activities and conducts likely to cause breach of peace and anarchy in our Country so that the ugly trend can be nipped in the bud as well as possible prosecution in the court of Law
“LP is aware of the level of enormous defeat across the Nation, the political and electoral frustrations the APC has been made to reap as a result of the Peter Obi phenomenon, depicted by the unprecedented support for Peter Obi that has since become a National Movement of the people
“LP sees the forced self-confession of the APC about the conspiracy being floated by the APC to assassinate the most popular and supported people’s preferred and loved 2023 Presidential Candidate, as yet another proof of God’s involvement with the Peter Obi Candidacy”.
“It is the responsibility of Security Agencies to ensure that all the Candidates are truly secured but the LP is loudly and clearly expressing its condemnation of the criminally inclined politics the APC is trying to re-introduce into the Nigerian Political system.
“President Muhammadu Buhari must now as a matter of urgency direct the Service Chiefs to place Festus Keyamo and other APC presidential Campaign members and supporters on a security watch list as they are now a threat to democracy ahead of the 2023 general elections” LP stated.
The statement called on the ruling party to understand that the violence propelled politics of the old has no room in today’s Nigeria and focus on how to exit Nigeria as the poverty capital of the world before the end of their inglorious tenure

Alleged N2.5bn fraud: Ogun Assembly suspends ex-Deputy Speaker, one other for dragging Speaker before EFCC
The Ogun State House of Assembly is currently engulfed in a threatening crisis following the arrest and trial of its Speaker, Rt Hon. Olakunle Olomu for an alleged N2.5b fraud by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
The House on Tuesday suspended a former Deputy Speaker, Dare Kadiri and another member, Solomon Osho from the Assembly indefinitely.
The suspension it was gathered, may not be unconnected with the current trial of the Speaker of the House, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over an alleged N2.5billion misappropriation.
The embattled Speaker alongside the Clerk of the House, Taiwo Adeyemo and Oladayo Samuel, the Director of Finance were last week arraigned before a Federal High court in Lagos after his arrest over allegations bordering on corruption, forgery and financial misappropriation.
The Speaker whose bail was secured after his arraignment, returned to office last Friday, as he condemned his arrest and trial by the EFCC and accused the former Deputy Speaker of writing an “hyperbolic” petition against him.
The Speaker at the plenary on Tuesday after his return from EFFC custody announced the suspension of Kadiri (Ijebu North II) and Osho (Remo North) over alleged breach of the Assembly rights and privileges.
