Senator Jarigbe Jarigbe (Cross-River) has allegwd that ranking senators at the National Assembly received the sum of N500 million, except a few of them, including himself.
The bombshell was dropped during Tuesday’s plenary session while discussing the motion on breach of privilege raised by Sen. Olamilekan Adeola against Sen. Abdul Ningi.
Sen. Jarigbe had received approval of Senate President Godswill Akpabio to contribute on the alleged missing N3.7 trillion, by Sen. Ningi, saying it had been accounted for under the Government Owned Enterprises and first line charge.
He then threw the bombshell: “If we want to express our grouse, I also have mine and we are all culpable.
“After all, all the ranking senators got N500m each. I am a ranking senator and I didn’t get.”
The revelation about the alleged disbursement of funds to ranking senators swiftly threw the Senate into disarray.
“All of us are culpable. Some so called Senior Senators here got 500M Naira each from the 2024 Budget, I am a ranking Senator and I didn’t get anything. No Senator has a right to accuse Senator Ningi.”
