*Confirms release of 313 suspected terrorists
The Nigerian Military has declared eight Persons wanted for killing 17 Army personnel in Okuama Community, Delta State.
They also confirmed the release of 313 suspects in detention for terrorism-related offenses to the Borno State Government following a court Order.
The Director, Defence Media Operations, Maj-Gen. Edward Buba, confirmed this at a media briefing on military operations across the six-geopolitical zones in the country.
According to Gen. Buba, the court ordered the release of the suspected terrorists for want of evidence after the conclusion of investigation and other ancillary matters.
The cases were prosecuted by the Department of Prosecution, Federal Minitry of Justice.
“Accordingly they would be handed over to the Borno State Government for further action,” he said.
He noted that troops of Operation HADIN ΚΑΙ recorded significant occurrence during the week, as a follow-up to a court order of the Federal High Court in Maiduguri.
“Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KΑΙ neutralized 52 terrorists, arrested 137 and rescued 78 kidnapped hostages within week.
“Troops recovered 3 M-56 rifles, 40 AK-47 rifles, 3 PKT guns, 889 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 310 rounds of 7.62mm NATO amongst others,” he said.
