Former Special Adviser to Imo Governor on Orientation, Chief Dr. Fidel Onyeneke, has commended the Imo State government for its efforts towards boosting electricity supply across the State.
Chief Onyeneke in a statement on Monday in Owerri, observed that “improved electricity supply would further accelerate the socio-economic and industrial growth of the various communities in Imo state”.
He, however, noted with dismay, that the current public power supply to many parts of the state, had not met the expectation of the residents.
Chief Onyeneke commended Governor Hope Uzodinma and the Imo State House of Assembly, for giving priority attention to the establishment of a state-owned Power Generation plant that would solve the electricity supply problems of Imo residents.
The Media Consultant identified epileptic power supply as a major obstacle to the welfare of the masses, even as he expressed optimism that the current action by the government would ameliorate the situation.
According to Onyeneke , having access to improved electricity supply with appropriate meters, will also save the consumers from the present undue exploitation of paying for services which they never received.
Chief Onyeneke however urged the people to reciprocate the gesture of the government, by guarding against the vandalization of electricity installations in any part of the state.
He called for patriotism by the people, to enable them protect government facilities as their personal belongings.
He reiterated that the task of recording more developmental strides in Imo State, requires the joint responsibility of every individual.
