Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, on Saturday, lost his bid to represent the state North Senatorial District in the Senate in 2023.

Ayade, who is also a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), contested against Adams Cecelia and Martin Orim.

The governor, however, came third in the primaries with 52 votes as he was defeated by Adams, who scored 140 votes, while the other aspirant, Orim, polled 61 votes.

Analysts say the result of the APC was an attestation on the popularity and level of achievements of the governor.

It was said that by Adams pushing Ayade to the third slot, was a clear indication that people of the state are unhappy with Ayade’s leadership even before he leaves office on May 29, 2023.
