The Police Command at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has smashed two robbery syndicates and arrested six suspects as part of it’s on-going operation targeted at identifying distinctive theft of items in parked cars during ceremonies, worship time and in public spaces around the FCT.

Police Public Relatiown Officer (FPRO), DSP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a press statement in Abuja.

According to her, “The menace of theft of items in parked cars on occasions and public spaces around the Central Area of the FCT has finally been brought to a low ebb as Operatives of the FCT Police Command attached to the Central Police Station (CPS) in a painstaking investigation following public outcry arrested six suspects of  two syndicates and recovered  one Tablet, and 75 laptops of various brands and grades.

“The on-going operation which has lasted five days is targeted at identifying distinctive styles of the perpetration of these dastardly acts, arrest of notorious thieves, and receivers of stolen properties, and the recovery of same.

“So far, the male trio of  Akintunde Balogun, 48, a resident of Gwagwalada; Mohammed Usuf, 27, a resident of Kaduna Road, and Shetima Abubakar, 27, a resident of Yangoji Area of the FCT; were arrested for theft. 

“While Kabir Usman, 37, a resident of New Nyanya, Nassarawa, state; Linus Imo, 35, a resident of Airport Road; and Praise Chinonso, 40, a resident of Bwari Area of the FCT; were arrested for receiving the stolen properties. 

“Following the above, the suspects in a voluntary statement confessed their involvement in the criminal venture. They will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

“In the light of the above, the Command wishes to urge the general public who have at a time or the other recorded a missing Laptop or Tablet in the Central Area and the territory as a whole to approach the Central Police Station at the Federal Secretariat Central Area, Abuja with Tangible proof of ownership to be reunited with their recovered personal effects.

“The CP while urging members of the public to be conscious of their environment, especially in Public spaces reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to riding the territory of unscrupulous elements.

“He also charged members of the public to always report stolen or lost items to enable the Police to keep tracks of criminal trends for appropriate counteractions.
