Explosion kills several persons in Taraba

Many persons were reportedly killed in an explosion that occurred at Iware village in Ardo-Kola local government council of Taraba state.

Although a witness said no fewer than ten corpses were seen at the scene, confirming the report the state command of the police spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi, said only three persons were killed.

He also admitted that 19 persons were inflicted with various degrees of injuries, and that they were presently receiving treatments in health centers.

Apart from the deaths, several persons were as well confirmed to have sustained various degrees of injuries.

The incident which occurred about 5p.m. on Tuesday, was said to have resulted in tensions in the community as the people were scampering for safety.

Though no officials could ascertain the causes of the explosion, the witness said the explosion took place at a drinking joint called Masha when people were busy drinking.
