The spate of insecurity in Imo State last weekend took a different dimension as the Police Command waw thrown into mourning following the discovery of the decomposing corpse of the police orderly to a former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Chiji Collins, in the bush.
The victim identified simply as Charles, was found in a bush in Oguta Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased was said to currently wearing the rank of Inspector of Police and was kidnapped few weeks ago alongside a driver in the Ohaji/Egbema LGA of the state while going for am erand in a Hilux and Sports Utility Vehicle when they were abducted by their attackers and taken into the bush.
The driver was later found dead, while the search for police orderly’s whereabouts continued, until unfortunately, his lifeless body was found Saturdsy in the bush already decomposing.
The victim’s colleagues told our correspondents that the Command was rattled and saddened by the gruesome killing of the Inspector who is said to be from the Mbaise area of the state, with deep cut on the neck.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO for the Command, Henry Okoye, confirmed the incident, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Barde, had put together investigators to apprehend the killers.
