The Enugu State Police Command has assured that it will boost security operations along the Holy Ghost Cathedral and railway lines axis of Ogbete Main market, as part of measures to checkmate alleged increasing crime activities in the area.
A press statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, noted the Police has noted a viral audio recording by a young man alleging the committing of heinous crimes at the Holy Ghost and railway axis of Enugu metropolis, stating even though the Command is yet to identify and properly debrief the alleged victim, it has, however, strengthened operational and investigative activities in said area, to rid it of any form of crime and criminality.
According to him, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, has urged the alleged victim to make himself available for Police debriefing, which he says is necessary to authenticate the allegation and to make on-going policing actions in the area more purposeful and productive.
He said the CP is advising the citizens against hastening to share and spread such security situations in the media, without first reporting and allowing the Police to diligently act on such information.
