President Bola Tinubu has been urged to embark on aggressive human development programs that would further enhance the living standard of the average Nigerian rural dwellers.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Imo Orientation Agency, Chief Dr Fidel Onyeneke, gave the advice in Owerri on Saturday, while speaking on the inauguration of the new President.
Chief Onyeneke said that the Country needed positive economic policies that would provide a conducive environment for the socio-economic emancipation of the masses.
He suggested that Agricultural production should be given a boost,while deliberate efforts should be made to accelerate small scale industrialization.
Chief Onyeneke stated that giving adequate attention to the Agricultural and Industrial sector,would not only alleviate the poverty level of the people but also minimize unemployment.
Onyeneke also opined that the Security architecture of the country must be realigned to adequately march the renewed fight against insecurity.
The Special Adviser also stressed the need for the new President to run an all-inclusive government, in order to give all Nigerians a sense of belonging, irrespective of tribe, religion and ethnicity.
Chief Onyeneke said that government should engage Technocrats and Professionals in the various sensitive positions so as to render qualitative leadership that would tackle the numerous problems which bedevelled the Nation.
On the removal of fuel subsidy, Onyeneke called for the understanding of the masses, and cautioned against any act of violence which would further aggravate the hardship faced by the people.
He suggested the immediate provision of parliatives including Food items and Mass transit facilities, in order to cushion the effects of the subsidy removal.
He also urged the Federal Government to plough the funds saved from the petroleum subsidy in the establishment of Modular Refineries, while liberalising Artisanal refineries to increase supply of petroleum products.
The Special Adviser admonished Nigerians to co-operate with the Federal and State Governments as they make frantic efforts to improve the welfare and living standards of the masses through viable economic measures.
