There were allegations that the Department of State Services (DSS) has not provided the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, his medication for nine days, and had not served him any food since morning on Thursday.

Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, wrote via a tweet on Thursday, that he made the discovery following his routine visit to the self-determination group’s leader at the DSS headquarters in Abuja.

He said he went there in the company of Kanu’s brother, Prince Emma Kanu and another lawyer, Nnaemeka Ejiofor.

According to the Ejimakor, the DSS desk officers informed him there was no money to buy Kanu’s food, the reason he has not eaten on Thursday.

The full tweet reads: “Special Update: Today, I visited #MNK in company of Prince Emma Kanu & Barr. Nnaemeka Ejiofor.

“He instructed me to make it public that he has not been given his drugs for the past 9 days & he has not eaten today because DSS says that they don’t have money to buy his food. #Sad.”

But, the lawyer failed to state whether or not he saw and discussed with Kanu, and the outcome of their talks, since he claimed he went there to see him.

He also did not say if made any formal complaint or steps he took to save a man, who, from his account, must have been passing through some health challenges therefrom and probably been starving as well.

Efforts made to reach the Public Relations Officer of the DSS, Peter Afunanya, were unsuccessful as the network providers simply failed to connect to his lines.
