True to his words, President Muhammadu Buhari stepped out with the supporters of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, in Yola Adamawa State Monday at the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC-PCC), fulfilling his promises last week.
But made it clear to Nigerians to “go and vote for candidates who would work for you; choose someone who loves the country and is responsible and don’t allow fraudulent people who would corner your commonwealth take over the country”.
The Chairman of the APC-PCC, the President, the first time he would be joining Tinubu’s campaign after it’s flagged-off in Jos in November last year, where he spoke forcefully on the direction Nigerians must follow.
During the campaign held at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Buhari called on residents of the state to vote for the APC’s presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and the party’s governorship candidate, Aishatu Binani.
Buhari said: “I am here to present to you the presidential candidate of our party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the governorship candidate in Adamawa Aishatu Binani, raising the hands of both candidates.
“Please don’t shame us, vote for Bola Tinubu he would work for the country, he would not disappoint you, and the people of Adamawa will set a record for voting for a female governor, we in the APC are backing her,” Buhari, spoke in both English and in Hausa languages.
“The APC is again going to be the number one having a female governor.
“Since we started the system, we are presenting one (female governorship candidate) and she is going to win, God willing,” he stated, promising to continue to prioritise security, education, and healthcare to better the life of Nigerians.
The President urged the residents of the state to work hard in the field to produce the food they eat, pay their taxes and ensure children go to school, he also asked them to vote for people who are very responsible, people who will keep them informed and act fairly and justly on resources meant for the masses.
Against the continued havoc caused by criminals in various parts of the country, the President, who said part of the remedy was citizens’ vigilance to secure their respective localities against, added:“You must understand him, don’t allow the problem people to come and dominate your localities,” he said.
But ultimately, he left Nigerians with a clear message: “Please, go to your constituencies and and choose people who are very responsible, people who will keep you informed and act according and within the resources available in your localities. As I said, education and healthcare are our priorities. Please make sure you have security in your area. Don’t allow fraudulent people to come and dominate your localities. Thank you very much and I wish you the best of luck. Thank you very much and goodbye.”
Spokesman of the APC-PCC, Festus Keyamo, had said last week that Buhari had indicated his readiness to be physically present in the tour of 10 states yet to be visited by the APC standard bearer, Bola Tinubu, including Adamawa (January 9), Yobe (January 10), Sokoto (January 16), Kwara (January 17), Ogun (January 25) and Cross Rivers January 30)
Others, according to a statement, included Nasarawa (February 4), Katsina (February 6), and Imo (February 14) as well as the grand finale slated for Lagos state on February 18.
He said: “The leader of our great party, for his sterling and inspirational leadership at this time and for galvanising our teeming members and supporters across the country.
“We urge our party faithful and supporters to turn out en masse, as usual, in the forthcoming campaign rallies.
“The zero hour is nigh; our spirits must be high; we must not relent in this collective march to our victory that is divinely ordained.”
