Inspite of efforts by Givernor Chukwuma Soludo to restore peace in Anambra State, arsonists early Monday again struck and set part of the Idemili North Local Government Area head office complex in Ogidi on fire.

Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred early before the residents woke up to the day’s Monday sit-at-home imposed by a faction of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).

It was reported that the yet-to-be identified arsonists torched part of the offices in the multi-storey Idemili LGA headquarters complex, some operational vehicles belonging to the LGA and INEC parked within the premises.

Also torched were the Magistrate’s Court, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) building and a branch office of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) located nearby.
It was however reported that the swift intervention of the natives who live around the scene of the crime and the police who reportedly arrived at the scene on time saved the premises from being completely razed down.

Recall that Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State since his inauguration, has been making efforts to restore peace not just in Anambra state, but in the whole of South-East zone, where activities of unknown gunmen and a faction of the IPOB are taking its toll on both the economy and lives of the citizenry.
Soludo has last ween visited Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the IPOB in detention at Abuja as part of the peace process.

The arson is counted as the third since Soludo took office on March 17, with Nnewi-South and Aguata LGA secretariat already burned down.
