The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has thrown in another bombshell, when at a campaign rally, he said the country needs the creativity of Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State in “turning a rotten situation into bad one”.

Reacting to the rumours that the Kaduna Governor was planning to travel abroad to obtain a doctorate degree said: “el-Rufai, we will not let you run away. Your vision, creativity, and resiliency in turning a rotten situation into a bad one is necessary at this critical time.”

Asiwaju Tinubu has been caught making slips in several of his public outings, such as when he suggested that Nigeria’s insecurity could be addressed by recruiting 50 million people into the military.

Nigeria’s labour force is slightly above 80 million people, and recruiting 50 million into the military alone is considered too unwieldy and out of sync.

The APC presidential candidate had again once claimed that the Permanent Voters Card (PVC) expires; by that he imputed was oblivious of the fact that the word ‘Permanent’ on the mix implies that the card does not expire.

Saturday Tinubu’s outing in Kaduna has elicited reactions from Nigerians who wondered whether it was a friendly fire targeted  at El-Rufai or his regular gaffe.

A professor of journalism at Kennesaw State University in the United States of America, Farooq Kperogi, said: “Na wa o. Tinubu said el-Rufai has the capacity to turn ‘a rotten situation into a bad one’. Was that a Freudian slip, a targeted missile, or an innocent verbal mishap? I see why Tinubu avoids the media like the plague.”
