Operation Lake Sanity: MJTF troops kill scores of Boko Haram/ISWAP in Lake Chad

Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Operation Hadin Kai, have eliminated scores of Boko Haram or Islamic States West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the on-going clearance operations around Lake Chad region.

The renewed vigour under Operation Lake Sanity was undertaken by the military   to flush out the remnants of the terrorists around the fringes of Lake Chad region and had continued to yield positive results.

Zagazola Makama, a Counter Terrorism Expert in the Lake Chad and Security Analyst, gathered that the troops also rescued 21 Women, 11 male Children and 9 female children in the Operations which commenced on 28th March. 

Intelligence Sources disclosed that the troops successfully cleared Cemente, Bagadaza,  Zanari and Wulgo in Gamborun Ngala Local Government Area of Borno state. 

 “There were two  encounters with the Boko Haram/ ISWAP insurgents at Zanari and also at the harbour area.  Both attacks were decisively dealt with,” the sources said. 
According to ine of the sources, many of the terrorists fled with multiple gunshot wounds during the encounter.

Items recovered in the aftermath of the encounter included;  2 Guntrucks , 22 bicycles, 18 motorcycles (destroyed in situ)  2 Rockets Propelled Grenade  tubes and 3 Rockets Propelled Grenade  Bombs.
Other include one NBST Gun, 2 GPMGs , 3 GPMG belts, 600 rounds of 7.62 MM NATO and  1 FN Rifle magazine, and other items.
