Nigerian singer and lead rapper of the defunct Hip Hop band ‘The Remedies’, Eedris Turayo Abdulkareem Ajenifuja, better known as Eedris Abdulkareem, has successfully undergone kidney surgery.

The kidney transplant was earlier postponed by his doctors and the news was made known on Thursday, July 28, while his team was updating his fans and Nigerians on the singer’s health.

The statement read, ”In furtherance of our earlier report on the health challenges of the Nigerian Hip Hop Czar Eedris Abdulkareem, and our promise and commitment to keep you updated as we move along with the process, the management of Lakreem Entertainment on behalf of the Abdulkareem family, hereby reports that the scheduled kidney transplant surgery which was tentatively slated for the July 27, have been moved forward by the doctors.

“As we await the substantive surgery date, which may take place any moment from now as all arrangements have been made, we wish to also use this opportunity to thank and appreciate everyone for your massive outpouring of prayers, love, care, affection and support”.

However, Eedris’ friend and colleague Myke Pam on Monday, August 22, gave a new update on the singer’s state of health.

According to a statement shared on his Facebook, Abdulkareem and his wife, Sherifat, who is the donor, are recuperating.

The statement read: “It is with unspeakable joy and undiluted Thanksgiving that the management of Lakreem Entertainment officially releases the news of the successful kidney transplant surgery on Nigerian Hip Hop Czar and activist, Eedris Abdulkareem, and his most gracious donor – his lovingly dedicated wife YT, some hours ago.

“Our unalloyed thanks and appreciation goes out to all well-meaning Nigerians, both at home and in the diaspora, and all his fans from across the globe who prayed for, cared for, reached out to and supported this wonderful couple during this health crisis. May your individual and collective wells never run dry.”

He thanked Nigerians for their support and asked everyone to continue to play for Abdulkareem and his wife as they recover.
