The Anambra State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it would surpass the 500,000 votes won by its Presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, boasting that it would increase the stakes to the tune of over one million votes.

The party has also concluded arrangements for the convening of an unprecedented Town Hall meeting/ rallies known as Mother Of All Rallies.

According to the Chairman of the NDC in Anambra State, Hon. Ikem Uzoezie, during the inauguration of the 59-man NDC National Campaign Council, Anambra State, for Peter Obi/ Rabiu Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign 2027, he stated that Mr Peter Obi is enjoying the grace of Nigerians, adding that, with the reports on the ground, it is the duty of members of the party in the state to leverage it.

“Our candidate is known nationwide, and he is on ground and enjoys the grace of Nigerians, and in the last election, he got over 500,000 votes, but this time around in 2027, he is going to score over 1 million votes in Anambra State”

“As a matter of fact, Peter Obi has won the 2027 Presidential election, and it is already done and dusted, and there is no doubt about it, and what we are doing is icing on the cake”, he said.

Speaking earlier, the member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency and Caucus leader of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Afam Ogene, noted that Obi represents that political tripod of Nigerian politics, adding that this is the great and only opportunity for Ndigbo to clinch the elusive Presidency of South East extraction. “You see, politics is localised, and we shall mobilise the grassroot and also bear in mind that the Presidency of this country is between the North and the South and should we miss this opportunity, no Igbo man would be taken seriously anymore when he declares to contest for the Presidency.

“It would indeed be sad and painful that at your age of 70 years and above, your children would be asking you what happened that you could not, as an Igbo person, produce the President of this country”, he said.

In his acceptance speech, the State Campaign Council Coordinator, Hon. Ifeanyi Ibezi, stated that the party is taking over Anambra, adding that the state is a democratic state and not a progressive state

“Like I said before, we are not worried about the empty threats of the Governor of Anambra State, and there is nothing like a progressive state because our state is a progressive state, and we shall make Anambra a blue state, just as the dominant colour in our party is blue ”

“Peter Obi has won the Presidential election in Nigeria with 70 per cent, and this is across Nigeria, and we are taking the battle from the state to the local government, the blocks and the units, and I can guarantee you that victory is assured,” he said.
