A 33-year-old man, Monsuru Musa, has been detained by security officers for allegedly writing the 2026 FCT promotion examination for his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

Musa was caught by security personnel on Wednesday, the third day of the ongoing promotion examination conducted by the FCT Civil Service Commission and held at the National Open University in Abuja.

He told security officers that his father asked him to sit for the examination on his behalf because he was sick and unable to attend the designated examination venue.

When asked his father’s age, Musa said Mohammed was between 67 and 68 years old, but his father claimed he would turn 60 years in February 2027, according to his statement.

Mohammed added that he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982, according to his statement to officials who questioned him during the examination exercise at the examination centre.

Both father and son were handed over to the police for further investigations after officials of the Department of State Services took their statements concerning the alleged offence.

NAN reports that the FCT Civil Service Commission began the 2026 promotion examination on Monday for 10,700 workers within the FCT.
