The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its Special Passport Intervention Exercise in London and Manchester, United Kingdom, from September 19 to October 3, 2026, following increased demand from Nigerians resident in the country.
The Service said the exercise was progressing smoothly despite initial challenges encountered on the first day, adding that the extension was approved under the directive of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
The NIS disclosed that 1,477 Nigerians were successfully processed and enrolled within the first four days of the exercise, with more than half already having their passports produced and dispatched to their respective addresses.
It urged eligible applicants to book appointments through the website of the High Commission of Nigeria in the United Kingdom and appear with their completed application form and payment receipt, appointment slip, current passport where applicable, and a self-addressed return envelope.
The Service reiterated that passport application and payment processes are fully automated and strictly cashless, stressing that no additional charges are required for participation in the intervention exercise.
It said the applicable fees remain $162 for a five-year passport booklet and $242 for a 10-year validity booklet.
The NIS stated that further information on the extended dates, participating locations and appointment procedures would be made available through the official communication channels of the Service and the Nigerian High Commission in the UK.
The Service thanked Nigerians in the United Kingdom for their patience and cooperation, reaffirming its commitment to efficient, transparent and responsive passport services for Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
