The Kaduna State Police Command has announced the rescued of 75 kidnapped victims from Folwaya Village, near Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state, by armed men.

The incident occurred on August 19, 2026, at about 5:30 p.m., when the Command received information, at Birnin Gwari, that armed men carrying AK-47 rifles and other sophisticated weapons had intercepted commercial buses conveying Fulani men, women and children.

According to the information, the victims were dragged to a nearby forest and hidden inside a cave located in a mountainous area.

Following the report, a crack team of police operatives from the Birnin Gwari Area Command were immediately deployed to the location. 

The operatives, on approaching the hideout, came under the notice of the abductors, who fled into the forest, abandoning the captives.

The 75 victims were subsequently rescued unhurt and taken to safety.

The Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Rabiu the informants for promptly providing them with intelligence, which contributed to the successful rescue operation.

He also praised the Area Commander, Birnin Gwari, and his operatives for their swift, professional and courageous response to the distress call.

The Commissioner urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements and activities to the Police, stressing that timely information remains crucial to preventing and responding to criminal activities.

He further advised members of the public against taking the law into their own hands, warning that such actions could endanger innocent lives and undermine ongoing security efforts.
