The Police has rescued the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her twin sons three days after they were abducted in Ibadan, Oyo State.

In a statement  the Police disclosed that Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin boys, Peter and Paul, were rescued on Saturday during a coordinated operation by operatives of the Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT).

The victims were kidnapped on June 3rd, 2026 while Mrs. Adegoke was reportedly driving her children to school in Ibadan, prompting an intensive manhunt by security operatives.

According to the police, the rescue followed sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical tracking of the kidnappers’ movements.

The operation reportedly led to a confrontation between the operatives and the kidnappers, during which two suspects were killed while two rifles were recovered.

Police said the victims were rescued unharmed and have since been placed under medical observation and psychological care.

A video of the operation, which has circulated widely on social media, showed armed operatives storming a suspected hideout and identifying themselves to the victims before securing their release.

The footage also showed officers evacuating the abductees after securing the area.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, commended the operatives involved in the mission, describing their actions as courageous and professional.

He said the swift response of the officers was instrumental in securing the safe release of the victims.

The police added that efforts were on-going to apprehend other members of the kidnapping gang who escaped during the operation.

The Force appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in tracking down the fleeing suspects, reiterating its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the country.
