President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, replacing Professor Ishaq Oloyede whose tenure ends on July 31, 2026.

The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.

According to the Presidency, Aina, a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, is expected to assume office after the expiration of Oloyede’s tenure.

The statement described the incoming registrar as a specialist in digital infrastructure, institutional reforms and national examination systems.

It noted that Aina, who will clock 40 in July, is among Nigeria’s youngest professors in the field of Computer Engineering and will emerge as the youngest registrar in the history of JAMB.

The Presidency said the academic holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, United Kingdom.

He also obtained a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security as well as a doctorate in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, UK.

According to the statement, Aina equally completed the Senior Management Programme at the Lagos Business School.

The Presidency added that the professor has over 15 years of experience advising both federal and state governments on digital transformation, institutional restructuring and system development.

It further stated that he had previously served as a consultant to examination bodies, including the National Examinations Council and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, particularly in the areas of ICT systems and examination integrity.

The statement also highlighted his membership of several professional bodies such as the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.

President Tinubu expressed confidence in Aina’s ability to consolidate on the reforms and achievements recorded under the outgoing registrar, Professor Oloyede.

The President said the new appointee would deploy his experience and technical expertise to strengthen the operations of the examination body and advance its ongoing reforms.
