Manchester City beat Chelsea to win the FA Cup and claim their second trophy of the season after lifting the League Cup in March.

The decisive moment of the final came in the 72nd minute when Erling Haaland slipped a pass into the path of Antoine Semenyo, who finished calmly to hand City the winner.

City controlled large parts of the game afterwards, with midfielder Rodri dictating play in the middle while Phil Foden constantly troubled Chelsea’s backline with his movement and passing.

Chelsea pushed for an equaliser late in the second half, but Ederson produced two important saves to deny them a way back into the match.

The latest success also saw manager Pep Guardiola reach 20 trophies in 10 years at the club.

Guardiola’s trophy haul at City now includes six Premier League titles, five League Cups, three FA Cups, three Community Shields, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Super Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup.

City players celebrated wildly after the final whistle, with Bernardo Silva and John Stones among those who lifted the trophy amid reports both players could be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Bernardo Silva said the team are still hoping they can push the Premier League title race to the end.
“It’s really nice to finish this way. Hopefully we can still have a small dream that we can still fight for the Premier League,” Silva said.

“We’re going to try against Bournemouth to keep those hopes alive.”

The FA Cup win means Manchester City will now face Arsenal in the 2026 Community Shield scheduled for August 16 at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Chelsea are also preparing for major changes ahead of next season after football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that Xabi Alonso has agreed to become the club’s new manager.

According to Romano, Chelsea are expected to announce the deal in the coming days, with Alonso set to sign a four-year contract until June 2030.

The former Bayer Leverkusen coach is also expected to be involved in Chelsea’s summer transfer plans as the club look to rebuild for next season.
