A two-storey house in Jikwoyi in the Abuja Municipal Area Council of the FCT on Friday collapsed, while efforts were being made to rescue those trapped in the rubbles.

According to the FEMD Search and Rescue Team, 17 workers were on the upper floor of the building when it collapsed, injuring five workers and trapping a lone male who was at the ground level of the building.

Both the injured workers and the rescued ones have been taken to the Sisters of Nativity Hospital in Jikwoyi and are said to be responding to treatments.

The FCT Emergency Management Department, National Emergency Management Agency, Department of Development Control, Engineering Department of FCDA, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp, Federal Fire Service and the FCT Police Command, were all at the incident scene.

Efforts were still ongoing to ensure the rescue of all individuals still missing in the rubbles as at press time.
