A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, his wife, Asabe Bashir, and their son, Abdulaziz Mbalami.

The presiding judge, Joyce Abdulmalik, granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of ₦200 million with two sureties in like sum.

As part of the bail conditions, the court ordered that one of the sureties must provide title documents of a property located in either Maitama or Asokoro, both regarded as highbrow districts in the Federal Capital Territory.

The court also directed the defendants to surrender their international passports to the court.

Justice Abdulmalik ruled that the defendants should remain in the custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.

The case was subsequently adjourned to March 16 for the commencement of trial.
