Troops of Sector 2, North East Joint Task Force Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), operating under Operation Desert Sanity V, have intensified efforts to curb terrorist activities in Yobe State, neutralising 15 terrorists and dismantling a key logistics base in the process.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of 22 February 2026, targeted a suspected terrorist launch and logistics hub at Lamusheri Village in Gujba Local Government Area.
According to military sources, the mission was intelligence-driven and followed weeks of surveillance using satellite imagery and other reconnaissance platforms.
During the advance, the troops reportedly came under heavy fire from the terrorists but responded effectively by outflanking them and blocking their escape routes. After a fierce exchange, 15 terrorists were neutralised, while several others fled with suspected gunshot wounds.
The troops also destroyed extensive defensive and life-support structures at the location. Five tricycles and two vehicles believed to be used by the terrorists for attacks and logistics were set ablaze along with their contents. In addition, a cache of arms and ammunition, including bandoliers and carmel pouches, was recovered from the scene.
The military high command commended the troops for their resilience, professionalism and fighting spirit. It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements until lasting peace and economic stability are restored in the North East.
