Barely 24 hours to the 2022 Governorship Election in Ekiti state billed for Saturday, June 18, 2022, there has been a sense of calmness in the air especially in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

This is even as the security agencies especially the lead outfit for the gubernatorial election in Ekiti, the Nigerian Police Force have embarked on an aerial patrol of Ado Ekiti and its environs as part of the routine drill ahead of the election.

Aside the air surveillance, a combined team of security agencies including the Nigerian Army, Navy, Air Force and para-military agencies have since embarked on a show of force in the Ado-Ekiti and other major towns in the state.

Prompt News gathered that the huge presence of security agencies on patrol duty in Ado-Ekiti and across the state is part of their confidence building measures to send a signal to those who may want to cause trouble on election day.

Our reporter who was at the State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) along Bank Road confimed there are heavy deployment of security personnel including intelligence personnel who were keeping watch over the premises.

It was also observed that the security operatives deployed at the State INEC office have diverted vehicular movements by closing one lane of the dual carriage way to restrict intruders into the premises of the Commission.
