Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY) have killed dozens of terrorists in a coordinated air and ground assault at Makakkari general area of Gando Forest, Bukkuyum Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

The operation, conducted on 10 August 2025, thwarted a planned reprisal attack on farming communities.

According to the Media Information Officer of OPFY, Captain David Adewusi, the strike followed credible intelligence that a large group of terrorists loyal to the late Halilu Buzu and Alhaji Beti had converged in the forest to avenge recent battlefield losses. Their intended targets were Adabka and Nasarawan Burkullu villages.

Air assets struck the terrorists’ position with precision, while a follow-up joint ground operation by Sector 2 troops intercepted and eliminated several fleeing fighters.

Captain Adewusi assured residents that terrorists and other armed groups “will find no hiding place in the North West and parts of the North Central Zone,” pledging that troops will pursue them wherever they gather or move.

He urged communities to support security forces by promptly reporting suspicious movements, stressing that timely intelligence remains critical to defeating terrorism and banditry.
