Leading presidential aspirant, Adewole Adebayo may stand at a pole point to clinch the presidential ticket of Social Democratic Party (SDP), today, ahead of the 2023 general elections, following the decision of one of the female aspirants, Cesnabmihlo Dorothy Nuhu – Akevona from the race

Nuhu – Akevona, who announced her withdrawal from the presidential race less than 24 hours to the conduct of the party’s presidential primary scheduled for Wednesday (Today), at a press conference in Abuja, also adopted Adebayo as his candidate for the race.

She emphasized that her decision to step down for Adebayo was to obey the decision of the party, which said it had zoned the presidency to South West, adding that she has seen in Adebayo, a more qualified candidate with credible credentials that win the 2023 election for the SDP

She explained further she was collapsing her presidential campaign structure into that of Social Democratic Party, SDP, presidential hopeful, Prince Adewole Adebayo, even as she promised to work with him to ensure he did not only emerge as SDP flag bearer but elected president of Nigeria in the 2023 general elections.

According to her, “Before today, I was in the race for the presidential ticket, which has been zone to the South West. Nigeria. This has automatically ruled me out of the race.

“As an obedient and loyal member of the Social Democratic Party, SDP,  I am declaring before you all that I have stepped down my aspiration.

“I must point out at this moment that my abiding reasons for seeking the highest office in the land was never about me, but to propagate the real change in Nigeria, that will cause a turn around for  Nigeria and her citizens.

“I’m please to inform you therefore, having been made ineligible that I have identified a formidable candidate, who is eligible for the contest and who also shares the same passion, ideal and aspiration for the socio-economic development of Nigeria and her citizens as I do.

“I have decided to move all my weights behind this credible candidate. He is amiable and highly esteem colleague, Prince Adewole Adebayo.”

In his response, Adebayo, who appreciated the gesture from Akevona, expressed his readiness to secure the SDP presidential ticket, adding that his passion to move Nigeria out of its present social and economic quagmire was responsible for his decision to seek the nation’s number one position, even as he promised that his presidency will guarantee a new Nigeria that will treat every citizen as equal as well as alleviate the sufferings of the people.
