As political activities continue to take center stage ahead of the 2027 general election, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has boasted that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot make any headway if it retains President Bola Tinubu as its presidential candidate.

The party said that with the litany of failures credited to the present administration, no patriotic Nigerian or humane Nigerian or group will support Tinubu in 2027.

The opposition party, in a press conference anchored by its spokesperson, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, on Monday at the PDP National Secretariat, described the prospect of Tinubu candidacy in 2027 as “bad market.”

Ologunagba said no patriotic or humane Nigerian will support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, with what he termed the litany of failures recorded by his administration.

“With the litany of failures, I can tell you that no patriotic Nigerian, I won’t say right thinking, but no patriotic Nigerian, no humane Nigerian, no group or political party, will support Tinubu for in 2027.

“And so, it is clear that President Tinubu, like they say in the local parlance, is a bad market. So you don’t touch it.

“So in 2027, there is no patriotic Nigerian, or political party, or group, or anybody, feeling what you and I feel, feeling the insecurity, feeling the fact that the economy is comatose will vote for Tinubu,” Ologunagba said.

The spokesman insisted that the chances of the PDP in the 2027 elections are brighter than APC’s, despite the gale of defections from the opposition party to the ruling party.

According to him, the PDP is better structured and organised than the ruling party, adding that the defectors were being intimidated by the APC administration.

“That is why the PDP is a different party. We have organs, we have institutions, we allow for debate, we allow for contestation of ideas. We agreed that we may not agree on everything, but we are not disagreeable.

“We can disagree, but we are not disagreeable. And that’s why at any point, you find us being able to come back, to recalibrate, because our interest is in the people, as our name says, Peoples Democratic Party. So we are connected to the people,” he said.

Ologunagba lamented the prevailing economic woes facing ordinary Nigerians with no end in sight, citing a recent personal experience at the Lagos airport to illustrate the effect on the aviation sector.
