The Labour Party (LP) candidate in the November 8 Anambra State governorship election, Dr George Moghalu has assured that he would service only for singling term.

He also pledged to run a people-first governance, noting that whatever that cannot be done in four years can not be done in eight years.

The LP governorship candidate gave the assurance during his meeting with members of the Omambala Union, in Umueri, Anambra North. The union represents six agriculturally rich LGAs in the region.

The engagement according to him, was part of his continued consultations across the State.

Dr Moghalu at the occasion shared personal connections to the region, citing his chieftaincy title from Omasi and expressing a desire for partnership. “I am here to tell you not just that I’m running but that I want to run with you. Omambala is home,” he said.

The LP guber candidate stressed the need for transparency, accessibility, and humility in governance, stating: “Nobody has ever walked into my office and been told to fill a form before being heard. That’s not service; that’s bureaucracy.”

He said that agriculture, particularly in Anambra North, remains a core priority in his agenda asserting that the region must be at the table, not just on the menu.

On security, Moghalu proposed tech-driven community policing and a professionalized vigilante system to engage youth meaningfully. “Train them. Equip them. Pay them. Other states are doing it with results. So can we.”

He expressed his determination to establish digital learning centers across all senatorial zones within his first month in office and expand vocational training programs.

Highlighting his achievements as MD of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), he said, “The first cargo vessel to berth at Onitsha Port in decades happened under my watch. I don’t make noise. I deliver results.”

“This journey is not about me. It’s about us, together, we will restore trust, deliver good governance, and ensure Omambala gets its rightful place. Anambra ga-adi mma,”

The event was presided over by respected industrialist and statesman, Dr. Chike Obidigbo, who spoke about the importance of leadership that recognizes Omambala’s agricultural potential and prioritizes investment in agro-processing, health, and education.
