*Reaffirms commitment to human capital development

As part of his commitment to human capital development, the former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, paid a visit to Philomena College of Nursing Sciences in Benin City, Edo State, Tuesday, where he made a donation of ₦15 million to support the institution’s on-going efforts in healthcare training and delivery.

Obi, who has consistently advocated investment in healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation as the foundation of national development, said his visit and contribution are in line with his vision of building a New Nigeria through the empowerment of the people.

“For Nigeria to truly develop, we must prioritise healthcare, education, and poverty alleviation—core pillars that define every progressive nation,” Obi stated.

He praised Philomena College of Nursing Sciences for its critical role in producing dedicated nurses and strengthening the nation’s healthcare system.

While commending the management, staff, and students for their commitment and warm reception, he described such institutions as “beacons of hope” in the national development journey.

Obi stressed that investments in education and healthcare are among the most effective ways to build a better future, reiterating that, “A New Nigeria will emerge when we invest in our people and lift them out of poverty.”
