*Insists the Commissiin will no longer store sensitive election materials in the apex bank

Following the involvement of the Central bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, in partisan politics, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed that it will no longer keep sensitive electoral materials at the nation’s apex bank.

Chairman of INEC, Mahmood Yakubu, said on Saturday in Abuja while responding to questions at a dialogue on Elections that as from the Ekiti State Governorship election, the electoral body will no longer keep its sensitive materials at the CBN.

Emefiele, inspire of advise from well-meaning Nigerians decided to polite the CBN by not openly associating with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), but participated reasonably in the processes preceeding to the selection of the party’s presidential flagbearer.

Even as the media reminded him that he was violating his oath of office and insulting the sensibilities of Nigerians and international stakeholders, he dismissed such as rantings of frustrated persons.

Several individuals and groups had raised serious concerns about the sanctity of elections materials kept at the CBN with Emefiele as its Governor, having become a card-carrying member of the APC.

Recall that groups allied to Emefiele purchased the presidential primary election forms which cost a whooping sum of N100 million in APC.

Emefiele also went to the Federal High Court Abuja and the Delta State High Court Kwale to enforce his rights to contest the 2023 presidency while serving as the CBN Governor.

Consequently, according to the INEC boss, the decision banning CBN is to guarantee that electoral materials for the up-coming elections are not compromised.
