A large group of over 300 armed bandits launched a brazen attack on a police camp in Makuku Village, Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State on Thursday, carting away eight AK-47 rifles and setting a patrol vehicle ablaze.

Sources informed Zagazola Makama that the attackers, believed to be cattle rustlers escorting a herd of stolen livestock from Niger State to Zamfara, stormed the police base around 1:00 p.m., triggering a fierce gun battle.

Despite attempts by the officers to repel the assault, the heavily armed bandits overpowered them.

During the attack, they looted the unit’s arsenal and torched a Toyota Hilux operational vehicle belonging to the police.

In response, troops of Operation FANSAR YANMA, alongside other security forces, have been deployed to the area.

A manhunt is currently underway, with security personnel trailing the attackers through their escape routes in a bid to recover the stolen firearms and apprehend the culprits.
